Directorate Application

Dear Friends,

It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join the Directorate of the seventh session of the Montreal United Nations Conference (MUNC) to be hosted from November 22-24, 2019.

Last year was our largest conference to date welcoming 500+ international students to Montreal. MUNC emphasizes the spirit of collaboration at its conference with the aim of encouraging participants to develop workable solutions to the world’s most complex issues. Students role-play as delegates representing the Member States of the United Nations. Through their lively debates and exchanges, delegates experience the dynamics of international cooperation. Directors play a key role in crafting these experiences.

The conference is noteworthy for featuring committees in a Blue Division for secondary school and college students in addition to an Orange Division for university students. Each division is tailored to the knowledge and experience of the participant. The conference champions authenticity and realism, simulating committees that capture the spirit and work of the United Nations.

MUNC has a rich tradition of featuring a multicultural and diverse group of staffers from Montreal. Past years have included staffers from Champlain College, Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf, Concordia University, Dawson College, École Polytechnique de Montréal, HEC Montréal, John Abbott College, Marianopolis College, McGill University, Université de Montréal and Vanier College.

We encourage all interested applicants residing in Montreal to complete the Directorate application form by February 24, 2019 at 11:59 PM EST. We will contact short-listed candidates to conduct interviews.

The available positions are:

  • Director for Administration;

  • Director for Committees;

  • Director for Delegate Relations; and,

  • Director for Media.

Directors will work closely with the Executive Board to plan the conference and exceed the high bar set by previous editions. Directors will learn and receive mentoring on how to organize a successful conference. Joining the Directorate is a serious commitment and requires organization, flexibility, and time management skills on the part of the individual.

Participating individuals who are ready and willing to take on the challenge of organizing MUNC will come to the realization that the efforts made are all the worthwhile and rewarding. MUNC combines the exciting thrills of political simulation with extensive educational opportunities for all its participants.

With encouragement,

The Executive Board
